Frankie's World is a Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care Center or PPECC licensed by the State of Pennsylvania to care for medically or technologically-dependent children. It is a non-profit foundation, with 100% of all charitable donations targeted to projects that enrich the lives of children with disabilities.
Frankie's World opened July 19, 2006 in the Northern Liberties neighborhood of Philadelphia. It is a beautiful facility, with a large open playroom, toys, books, child's computer, adapted seating, therapy equipment, tricycles, indoor swing set, and much more - every item carefully selected to maximize a child's opportunity for physical, physiological, and intellectual growth and development. As a nonprofit foundation all charitable donations are allocated to enable us to provide a safe and positive environment to foster programs such as:
* Recreation and therapies programs
* Music therapy
* Educational opportunities
* Social skills development
* Transportation for patients
It is our philosophy that every child, should have the opportunity to live a happy and successful life to the best of their ability.
At Frankie's World, every child is treated with respect and dignity. We maintain a high ratio of one health professional for every 3 children, and we are staffed by experienced pediatric nurses. We are a Headstart program location, and we have a full-time educator onsite. I named the center after Frankie, an amazing little girl who lived in Philadelphia. Frankie passed away in December 2008, but during her short life she was an inspiration to her doctors, nurses, therapists, family and friends. And just like Frankie, Frankie's World is full of smiles and laughter!
We welcome children ages birth to 8 years of age who currently receive in-home private duty nursing, or who qualify to receive nursing care. There is little to no cost to parents - we will work with your child's doctor and insurance company. Frankie’s World provides an opportunity for medically fragile children a place to learn, grow and socialize as any other child instead of being confined to their home. This past August we celebrated the graduation of 7 of our Head Start students as they "move up" into Kindergarten at their public schools. Frankie’s World provides these children with the opportunity to be active, thriving kids just like their neighbors.
