Mission Statement

The Louisiana SPCA is dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals and to the promotion of respect and humane care for animals. We are committed to: 1) Promoting and supporting positions that have a positive impact on the quality of life for animals; 2) Educating the public regarding responsible pet ownership and respect for animal life; 3) Providing shelter for stray, homeless and unwanted animals, promoting the adoption of animals and seeking to reunite lost pets and their owners, and 4) Providing basic animal medical services to include annual vaccinations and low cost spay/neuter surgeries.

Description

The LA/SPCA provides shelter and care for tens of thousands of animals a year. In addition to caring for our animals, we offer a variety of programs, services and activities for our community such as animal adoption programs, humane education presentations (Show and Tail) to local schools, low cost dog training courses, Pet First Aid and CPR, summer camp programs for kids, low cost medical services and much more! We are fortunate, in that we have very dedicated and hard-working staff, but we are always in need of volunteers to help support our efforts. Volunteers are integral to our organization's success. Without volunteer support the many programs and services, as well as the day to day activities required for proper mental and physical growth of our animals would not be possible. We thank you for reaching out to the Louisiana SPCA and hope that you will consider joining us in our quest to provide for and find as many of our animals loving, forever homes!
