AFS is an international, voluntary, non-governmental, non-profit organization that provides intercultural learning opportunities to help people develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to create a more just and peaceful world.

Description

AFS is a non-profit volunteer based educational organization offering exchanges for students, young adults and teachers in over 50 countries around the world. In over 50 countries AFS participants not only visit another culture, they live it! Students, 16 to 18 live with a family in a community abroad and attend school for a year or semester. Some students spend a school vacation studying the language and culture of another country. Young adults, 18 and over work in community service organizations or businesses in countries abroad while learning new skills, the language and culture. Educators live with a host family in another country and teach in the local school system
