A SIMPLE PROGRAM OF EDUCATING PEERS TO HELP THEMSELVES AND OTHERS BEFORE A CRISIS DEVELOPS. TO BE HEARD BY A PEER WHO TRULY CARES
We provide: 1) Free Fax Clearinghouse you fax in your information to empower youth and we will fax it out (local area only) 203-468-8144 BP465) 2) Provide a helpline (teen to teen) for youth struggling with situations, concerns, or just want to talk teen to teen who truly cares (203-789-TEEN TBA) 3) Provide teen to teen Listener/Mentor/Advocate Training ex: suicidality, sexual abuse, dating violence and relationships, adolescent legal rights, individuality and ethnicity, eating disorders, substance abuse, and crisis prevention and intervention, internet safety, values and morals clarification, and more. 4) Completion of training: Teen Listener/ Mentor/ Advocate Certification (35hrs) 5) Receive volunteer school credit hours (Community Service Learning, Internships, etc) 6) Volunteer ages: 14-19 at least 6 months time commitment (1hr inservice each month with three 4hr shifts per month of commitment needed) 7) Live CTV Cablevision Show "Are YOU the ONE of Many - YOU and YOUR Mental Health".8) Outreach and networking with local school/colleges/ community service providers. 9) Availability as guest speakers on issues associated with youth today 10) Workshop availability ex: a.Grandparents Raising Grandparents 2003 State Convention b) NHPD/Empower New Haven 2004 "Are We Listening" c) Youth Health Fair Resource Table - High School In the Community d) resource gathering and survey.
