Giving+Learning connects adult volunteer mentors to work one on one with an adult new American who is asking for help to practice English, study for their drivers permits, citizenship, GED and CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) exams.
Thousands of refugees and new Americans are unable to attend Adult Basic Education classes due to lack of transportation or childcare. By having a mentor in their home they are able to achieve their goals and become integrated into the community.
Friendships form throughout a mentorship and barriers of discrimination and misunderstanding between cultures are broken down.
