Mission Statement

To provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with mental retardation, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

Description

SOGA has over 600 local events per year and 5 state-wide events. The State Indoor Winter Games are in January, State Summer Games are in May, State Masters Bowling is in August and the State Fall Games and State Horse Show are in October

I volunteered with The Special Olympics for 4 yrs. My group (His Academy Honor Society)had a wonderful time helping, encouraging and just having fun early in the morning. I recommend this event.
