Mission Statement

The Arlington Diocese Office of Resettlement/USCCB Refugee Services is committed to our mission of welcoming the stranger into our community. We believe that it is necessary to address the needs of the body, mind, and spirit of the population we serve in order to provide them with the tools needed for self-sufficiency and independence in America.

Description

The Arlington Diocese Office of Resettlement, an affiliate of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops/Migration and Refugee Services (USCCB/MRS) has resettled over 16,000 refugees in the Northern Virginia Community since 1975. This year alone the office will assist over 500 refugees and asylees. With the assistance of local organizations and individuals, we provide a comprehensive range of services including: orientation, counseling and acculturation services, housing, furniture, and all basic needs during first 30 days after arrival, transportation, interpretation services, employment placement services, and assistance in applying for citizenship and in preparing for the citizenship exam. We also provide referrals to Social Services, health services, local places of worship, ESL classes, and the school systems.
