Mission Statement
Manhattan Habitat for Humanity builds simple, decent and affordable homes for low-income families in our community for whom the dream of homeownership would be impossible without Habitat. The homes are kept affordable for families with community donations of labor, materials, and funding.
Description
Habitat for Humanity of the Northern Flint Hills builds approximately two homes per year in the Manhattan, Kansas, community with all volunteer labor. Homeowners are selected for Habitat homes based three main criteria: need for adequate shelter, willingness to partner, and ability to repay an affordable 20-year mortgage. Homeowner's complete a minimum of 200 "sweat equity" hours on their home along with volunteers from the community. Habitat for Humanity of the Northern Flint Hills builds homes within Riley, Geary, and Pottawatomie County.
