Mission Statement
Scott's Run Settlement House is a place to turn to for Christian care of individual, family, and community needs.
Description
Since 1922, Scottâ  s Run Settlement House has enriched and strengthened individual and family life by providing experiences of growth in the lives of participants of all ages, backgrounds, nationalities, beliefs, and capabilities. Our current programs consist of a variety of outreach services including an emergency food pantry, youth community service groups, Community Garden, computer tutoring utilizing West Virginia University volunteers, older adults groups, work camps providing home repairs and new home construction, tutoring, â  ACTSâ  - A Community Thrift Shop, and a pregnancy/parenting support program. Our Child Development Center, a sliding fee scale child care center, provides a place for lower income working families to receive quality services that meet their budget. Current enrollment in the Child Development Center indicates that over 70% of the children participating qualify for a reduced rate of payment. School supplies giveaways, Christmas Adopt-a-Family, and a Thanksgiving basket give-a-way are held each year to help low income families enjoy these special times.
