Believing in the potential of every student, Richard Allen Math and Science Academy ensures an equitable education that challenges each student to meet or exceed the standards needed to be successful in high school and thereafter. This will be accomplished through the collaboration of students, staff, families, and community partnerships.
The Richard Allen Math & Science Academy (RAMSA) is the only middle school in North Minneapolis that focuses specifically on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) and exposes urban middle-school students to the real world of engineering by through engineering classes that provide practical applications to the math and science coursework and promote practical, hands-on research and development aspects of engineering through projects such as building bridges, launching rockets, and designing helicopter landing fields.
We believe that introducing, exposing and engaging students in these key vocations of the future will instill a great love for learning and capture their interest in STEM. RAMSA's vision is to create future scientists and engineers through the exploration of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).
In addition to their Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Engineering/Technology courses, our students receive 80 minutes of after-school tutoring four times each week that specifically target their development in Math and Reading.
