Mission Statement

Asheville Humane Society is dedicated to promoting the compassionate treatment of animals in our community through education, sheltering and adoption.

Description

Asheville Humane Society takes in nearly 7,000 animals every year, and works diligently to adopt out at many as possible into permanent and loving homes. Last year we placed more than 1700 animals into such homes. All had been spayed or neutered, had all their first shots, received free ID tags and a free first visit to any local veterinarian. The care and adoption of homeless, unwanted animals is our most important mission, and we carefully match people with animals by providing screening and counseling services to assure successful adoptions.
· We value our volunteers and the individual skills they bring in serving the citizens of our community.
· We value fair and impartial enforcement of all Animal Control laws; to protect citizens and animals of Buncombe County; and strive for excellence in service delivery.
· We value providing quality and timely service to the citizens of Buncombe County for inquiries regarding local, State, and Federal Animal Control laws.
· We value providing humane care and treatment for the animals of this community and strive to offer healthy pets for adoption.
· We value reducing the problem of pet overpopulation.
