Mission Statement

To feed, clothe, shelter, and spiritually counsel Christians and others in need, with emphasis on assisting the homeless, inmates of correctional centers, and the families of inmates in correctional institutions.

Description

Mission Gate and its volunteers work in prisons and jails across Missouri and provide a nine to eighteen month aftercare program helping inmates in their reintegration process. The application process begins while they are incarcerated. We provide housing, Bible studies, worship services and life skill courses such as anger management, financial stewardship and parenting classes. Clients receive counseling, job readiness classes and assistance with job location and transportation. Training and mentoring classes are offered for volunteers. Five aftercare homes in the city of St. Louis and a 125 reintegration ranch exist in Cuba, Mo for these purposes. Special programs are set up to help families--one being the Christmas Angel Mission which provides gifts and the Gospel to over 2,000 children of inmates at Christmas time. The Stay Connected program helps inmates after graduation to help prevent relapse during their next step of independent living. Each client attends the church of their choice while in the program and is encouraged to stay connected to their local church for continued growth in the Lord and social development.
