We achieve our mission by producing the following Newark-Essex Pride Week Annual Activities:
FLAG RAISING at City Hall
The LGBT flag raising at Newark City Hall kicks off the week with the official endorsement of Newark-Essex Pride Week by Municipal Council and Mayor Cory Booker. The flying of the flag marks a celebration of our community that empowers all its members.
SAFE SPACES Conference Series
The Creating Safe Spaces Conference is an annual event that brings together stakeholders to discuss and learn about issues relevant to the LGBT community.
Community Impact Awards
The annual awards ceremony honors leaders and activists in the Greater Newark LGBT community who inspire us and have catalyzed change.
Health Fair
NEPC adds a health fair to the programming which will bring health service vendors, organized recreation and wellness sessions to the event.
Pride Parade
The Newark-Essex Pride Parade features a procession/march of the community down Halsey Street in a formal celebration of the LGBT community.
Pride Jam in the Park
The Pride Jam in the Park festival features a variety of vendors including LGBT agencies, service providers, local businesses and advocacy groups at an event with food and live entertainment for 8 hours. Entertainers include a combination of local, homegrown and regional talent with a focus on performers who are members of the Greater Newark-Essex County LGBT community.
