Mission Statement

"To bring about the sustained regeneration, improvement and management of the physical environment by developing commuinity-based partnerships which empower people, businesses, and organizations to promote environmental, economic, and social well-being."

Description

GWDA began operating officially in Doa Ana County in January 2010. It is part of a nation-wide network of independent non-profit businesses called Groundwork Trusts. The Trusts are linked together by the Groundwork USA National Office (GWUSA) with support from the Environmental Protection Agency Brownfields Program and the National Park Service Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Program.

The Groundwork USA Motto is "Changing Places, Changing Lives" and the mission of the Trusts, including GWDA, is threefold:

To create opportunities for local people, especially youth, to learn new skills and to take action on practical community projects;

  • To create better, safer, and healthier neighborhoods; and
  • To help local businesses and individuals fulfill their potential.
