Mission Statement
The Los Alamos Study Group seeks to end the development and production of nuclear weapons, limit their environmental impact and repair the damage they have caused. To define a new direction for New Mexico that provides a bridge out of the dark valley of poverty fostered by the emphasis on nuclear weapons, by means that restore human dignity and hope.
Description
Turn the tide of increasing legitimacy for nuclear weapons by providing coordinated and mutually supportive campaigns and programs, based in New Mexico but present in Washington and on campuses as well, that draw allies, new activists, and new leaders, training, supporting and linking them to our allies and to each other; Provide written and web-based materials useful in the struggles against low-yield weapons, pit production, and the acquisition of advanced surrogate nuclear testing capabilities; Provide alternative perspectives to those who could otherwise be recruited by the nuclear weapons labs; and Beginning a well thoughtout, cooperative multifacted campaign to end nuclear waste disposal at Los Alamos.
