Increase nursing education opportunities for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds, including racial and ethnic minorities, who are underrepresented among registered nurses.

Vision Statement: Create a model educational program that will empower and support disadvantaged students to succeed in nursing education, so that they may serve as role models and leaders for future nurses.

Description

The project provides activities to increase academic competency at a pre-entry level, design a consistent yet individualized retention program, while providing a combination of summer stipends and academic year scholarship for the participants to support their educational endeavor and minimize competing needs during the educational period. Students attend support classes, and participate in service-learning and multicultural experiences.
