Mission Statement

The Prospect Park Alliance is a public/public partnership with the City of New York which, through fund raising and advocacy, furthers the restoration and preservation of Prospect Park, and the development of the Park as a resource for the people of New York City.

Description

Volunteers help restore natural areas of the Park as well as with special events and ongoing activities. Volunteers help staff the Carousel, Lefferts' Homestead Children's Museum, and Prospect Park Audubon Center.

Prospect Park is Brooklyn's 585-acre flagship park created by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux in the 1870's. It has a 60-acre lake, 250 acres of woods, and the largest meadow in any urban park. Prospect Park is also the home of the nation's first urban Audubon Center. It also has a skating rink, historic house, and carousel.
