Well Arts Institute

Description

In 2000, Well Arts Institute started as an outreach program of Artists' Repertory Theatre. In 2002 we became a 501(c)3 arts organization working with people facing life altering health issues. We've worked with adults with cancer, AIDS, and multiple sclerosis, children with cancer and juvenile diabetes, adults in addiction recovery, veterans, and the elders. Our elders' workshop series, "Voices of the Elders" pairs each elder writer with a scribe who assists them in writing their stories.

Our workshops comprise 8-10 weeks of 90 minute sessions involving creative writing and visual arts projects. At the end of the workshop, each participant is given a bound keepsake book of their creations. They are then partnered with a professional actor who rehearses with the participant. The actors perform the stories created in the workshop for the public at large.
