Mission Statement

Refugee Community Partnership is a community development organization that works to equip refugee'd people in CH-Carrboro with the skills and strengths needed to become self-sufficient and collectively resilient. Guided by input from refugee'd community members, RCP pursues its mission through empowerment-centered programs that strengthen community navigation skills and provide family mentorship, leadership development, support for youth, legal, and health promotion. We equip the native community to be partners with refugee'd people through the promotion of cross-cultural competency and collaboration.

The Human Rights Center has four core missions:

• To promote inter-cultural understanding and peoples' full recognition of the dignity and fundamental rights of the others --- across the many lines that divide us; race, ethnicity, class, nationality, religion. These are our guiding principles at the Center, and we will begin to explore how we can encode them into our future programs in the larger community.
• To be advocates for those who suffer exploitation and abuses of power and greed. Our neighbors in Abbey Court do, and we will not be silent.
• To provide opportunities for college students in courses that highlight experiential learning. These include courses on human rights but also courses on immigration, poverty, inequality.
• To work with other community organizations to combat poverty, racism, exclusion, abuse of workers and tenants, sexism, and homophobia in the broader communities of Chapel Hill and Carrboro.
