Mission Statement

The mission of the B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center, a 501©(3) non-profit organization, is to empower, unite and heal through music, art and education and share with the world the rich cultural heritage of the Mississippi Delta.

The vision is to inspire hope, creativity, and greatness.

Description

The B.B. King Museum is dedicated to celebrating the life and music of this iconic artist, and it is B.B.'s expressed wish that education and community outreach be at the heart of our mission. We honor him and his legacy by providing educational programs designed to offer young people the kind of hope and opportunity that was not available to Riley B. King in the Mississippi of his youth.

The stories of the Delta - its history, music, social mores, race relations, literature and legends, adversities and successes - are synthesized in one interpretive setting. All these elements came together to produce the men and women who created blues music, and the B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center serves as a repository for the rich heritage that gave birth to America's music.
