Compeer Lancaster is the most amazing organization I have ever been proud to be a part of. I have been a volunteer for over 5 years, and have loved every minute of it. I am in a 1-1 match and enjoy spending time with my friend and we love all the amazing events Compeer puts on every year! Spring Luncheon, Summer Picnic, Holiday Party, Winter Bowling Party, and monthly game nights to name just a few. If you are looking for an amazing volunteer experience this is it! I feel like I have more time to do the things I enjoy, because my friend and I make the time each month to do those fun things together. We have gone to lunch, movies, played mini golf, walked the mall and just enjoyed our time together. Over the past 5 years our friendship has blossomed, and I now feel like she is no longer "matched" with me, we are FRIENDS! Compeer Lancaster's mission is to improve the quality of life for people recovering from mental illness through the power and gift of friendship.

Hello my name is Thomas Einwechter. I am 21 years old. I am a student at Edinboro University. I am a US army veteran. I was a 92 foxtrot, which is a Petroleum Supply Specialist. After two years in the Army I received a four year active duty scholarship here at EU. Upon earning my degree, I will be commissioned as an second lieutenant in the United States Army. I come from a big family of five sisters and two brothers. I know what it means to be there for them. I'd like to take this opportunity to do the right thing in the best way that I can. I need to get 7 hours of volunteer work done. Because I violated the quiet hours during study hall in my dorm. I am a hard worker, I can give 7 hours of my time. I am a nice caring individual, and easy to get along with. I have my own car to get to any locations, or to drive someone somewhere. Please call me anytime at 717-269-8677. I need to get 7 hours of community service before March 22nd, 2014. Thanks.

Compeer is a Great organization. People recovering from mental illness are often looked down upon or simply overlooked. In working with my compeer match, I get to share with a friend who I might not have met or talked to before and we've had lots of opportunities to talk and share and laugh. I get to help him learn things like navigating a computer or a resume, and he helps me enjoy his love of Transformers and fighting games.
