Volunteer with us at Food Club! Food Club is a membership-based grocery store that provides choice, flexibility, and access to healthy foods along with membership perks and support at the Opportunity Hub. The current food system is divided with no middle ground: limited free food for some and full price for others. The Food Club model is a big, systemic response focused on improving healthy food access in a high-dignity, high-choice environment. Qualifying low-income residents opt in by purchasing a membership, which provides food access at more convenient hours, all in a bright and inviting grocery-store style space staffed by volunteers. Food Club invites qualifying low-income residents to take ownership and contribute at a level based on their income, offering a highly affordable way for members to invest in their family’s health and future. For a small monthly fee, members get points based on household size to spend on groceries as they wish throughout the month. Volunteers are an enormous part of the daily operations at Food Club. Additional volunteers are needed to ensure we can provide the best possible service to our neighbors in need, for expanded hours of service. We are specifically seeking volunteers in the following positions, during the following times: Checkout volunteers (*training provided!) on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 5-7pm Checkout volunteers (*training provided!) on Saturdays from 10am-12pm and 12-2pm Produce checkers on Saturdays from 10am-12pm and 12-2pm We hope you can join us!

Volunteer with us at the Community Kitchen! The Community Kitchen provides a place to identify the needs and struggles of our most vulnerable neighbors, while providing them with a free restaurant-quality hot meal, seven days a week. The Community Kitchen serves a hot lunch every day of the work-week, and a hot breakfast on weekends! Community Kitchen Volunteers may help prepare food, assemble meals, serve meals to guests, and help clean up after meal service. The Kitchen is a fun, fast-paced environment. No prior cooking or restaurant experience is required. As long as you have a passion for serving, and an interest in food, we can teach the rest! We are specifically seeking volunteers during the following shifts. Click the link to sign up! Lakeshore Food Rescue is a community-powered initiative of Community Action House, that aims to End Food Waste, Fight Hunger and Mobilize the Community. Our goal is to turn Excess Food into Food Access. We partner with food retailers, volunteer drivers and local non-profit partners to connect surplus food with individuals and families who are experiencing food insecurity. If you want a volunteer opportunity that is quick, flexible and impactful, be a Lakeshore Food Rescue Driver! Food rescue is an effort that prevents food from going to waste, and distributes it to people who lack reliable access to adequate food. Rescued food can come from various sources, including grocery stores, restaurants, farms, and food processing facilities Through the Food Rescue Hero app, volunteers are notified when food rescue pick-ups are available (like Uber - for food!). Volunteer as much or as little as you'd like, on your schedule. Claim a food rescue route through the app whenever it's convenient for you. Or, sign up for a recurring route at the same time, same place each week. We are scheduling volunteer orientations in June and plan on launching the Food Rescue Hero app in the Holland/Zeeland area in July!
