The Truckee Donner Railroad Society operates the Truckee Railroad Museum located next to the historic railroad station in downtown Truckee. The museum was opened in May, 2010 and almost 4,000 people visited it in the first 4 months of operation.

This museum is an interim museum telling the stories that will be expanded in the permanent museum. The larger museum is currently in the planning stages. The society currently is restoring five pieces of rolling stock including a rotary snow plow used in Truckee and a pullman passenger car.
