Mission Statement

With service, sacrifice and selflessness, we bring light and hope to our community, families and our children, building a better future for all.

Description

Lighthouse 2911 began in 2005 to help "at-risk" youth, many of whom were involved with juvenile justice programs. The original program "Positive Attitude and Life Skills (PALS)" is highly successful at reducing recitivism in those kids. This program meets weekly. We provide a summer camp and social outings for PALS participants as well. We have a parallel program that offers parenting assistance.

Our offerings have expanded and now reflect helping all children. We have proactive programs such as "Be The Change", which is an intense one day program presented to small groups of high school students, dealing head-on with challenges they face, such as bullying, peer pressure, suicide, eating disorders, etc.

We are developing a GED program for youth and their families. Technology and software have been funded for this program. It will be individually paced, taught by a certified teacher and will reach rural areas of the Golden Crescent.

Our "SafeDate" program deals with dating safety and is aimed at reducing date rape among teenagers.

"Beautiful U" targets fourth grade girls. It is a one day program that illustrates a young lady's inner beauty and builds self esteem.

Lighthouse 2911 benefits youth throughout the Golden Crescent area, in the seven counties around Victoria, Texas. We serve all youth ages 10-17 and their familes, regardless of race, class, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or disability.
