The Greeley Downtown Development Authority mission is simple:
"To create a thriving, urban neighborhood that is a vibrant place to live, work and play."
The Greeley DDA is part of the Colorado and national Main Street Program, which use the Four-Point Approach to Revitalization that includes projects in Organization, Promotion, Economic Development, and Design.
A few of the DDA's project and services for downtown include:
* Downtown business recruitment and retention projects
* Historic preservation technical assistance
* Architectural assistance for property owners
* Information about incentives for new businesses and property rehabilitation.
* Special events such as Oktoberfest and Friday Fest
From entertainment venues to retail stores, professional services to residential spaces, Greeley Downtown is working to create a well-rounded, versatile, vibrant downtown.
The DDA works to promote downtown business, festivals, live music and events through their Updates & Events in Downtown Greeley and A&E Downtown Greeley newsletters. Not to mention producing events such as Greeley's Oktoberfest, Friday Fest, local and student promotional events in conjunction with the downtown district.
The DDA has continued to generate growth in downtown, even in tough economic times. Our historic Lincoln Park has recently been renovated, and our Awning/Facade Grant Program has offered several businesses and property owners the opportunity to renovate the front of their buildings.
Downtown Greeley has seen other benefits of DDA funding, an example being the permanent lighting of trees in the core downtown. This project has increased the warmth and vibrancy of the area. The DDA plans to bring more art into the downtown and add additional lighting between the 8th & 9th Street Plazas.
