Mission Statement

The New Mexico CASA Network was created to support the formation and continued operation of CASA programs throughout New Mexico. The activities of the Network include, but are not limited to CASA volunteer training and new program start-up support, CASA program director training, statewide fundraising, and introduction of legislation supporting CASA efforts in New Mexico and other child advocacy issues. The Network is comprised of all New Mexico programs that meet state and NCASAA standards. The CASA mission is to support effective volunteer advocacy for the best interests of abused and neglected children involved in the court system. Our vision is to ensure that every child has a safe, supportive and permanent home.

Description

A Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer is a trained citizen who is appointed by a judge to represent the best interests of a child in court. Children helped by CASA volunteers include those for whom placement is being determined in juvenile court. Most of the children are victims of abuse and negect.
