USO San Diego's mission is to enhance the quality of life of the U.S. Armed Forces (U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force Marines, Coast Guard and National G uard) personnel and their families worldwide and to create a cooperative relationship between U.S. military communities and involved or supporting civilian communities.
USO San Diego has been providing a Home Away from Home for active duty military and their families for 68 years. Each day offers new opportunities for us to serve those who serve our nation. As the premier vehicle for the American public, and more specifically the San Diego community, to say thanks for their service and sacrifice, USO is THE way to support the troops.
USO San Diego has two convenient locations - open 365 days a year - are ideally suited to provide programs, services and information for the largest population of active duty military in our nation. A very modest staff and support of over 100 dedicated volunteers always ensure that the moment a service or family member walks through our doors, they feel at home.... and that's over 150,000 patrons annually!
Our 18,000 square foot, two-story Downtown Center allows patrons to enjoy a welcoming and home-style environment in which to kick back and relax. They come to enjoy a movie from our wide selection of DVD's or sporting event on large screen televisions, or simply a game of pool. They study for advancement exams or catch up on reading in our private library. Our cyber canteen and wi-fi hotspot offers them internet access to keep in touch with family and friends far away. They challenge each other in our video game room, and enjoy free refreshments in our café. They come to enjoy a free meal and fellowship every Tuesday night in our 6,000 square foot social hall complete with kitchen and disc-jockey booth, or they host their own private event such as pre-deployment seminars, retirement receptions and baby showers at no charge.
Our 7,600 square foot Neil Ash Airport Center is located in Terminal 2 of Lindbergh Field and is host to service members and their families traveling to and from San Diego. Amenities include coordination of ground transportation to various local bases for thousands of new recruits - many of whom are away from home for the very first time, an opportunity to make that one last phone call home prior to entering their challenging recruit training, internet connectivity, arcade gaming, large screen televisions, comfortable furnishings, pool table and a café serving free refreshments daily.
