Mission Statement

The mission of the QCAWC is to operate a shelter for homeless animals, to offer a spay and neuter program and provide humane education. We are the only full-service, no-kill shelter serving the Quad-Cities Area.

Description

We operate the Quad City Animal Welfare Center as a No-Kill shelter. There are many different understandings and definitions surrounding the term "No-Kill." Our center operates under the philosophy that we serve our community as a supplement to our local animal controls. While animal control shelters are funded with tax dollars, they are required to control the pet population, and unfortunately that often involves euthanasia. Because we accept approximately 50 percent of our animals from local animal control shelters, they do not have to euthanize the animal because there is no room. Our community is benefited by our willingness to accept, alter, vaccinate, and care for each animal until it can be adopted. Without our shelter, these animals would be otherwise be euthanized.

These people stink. I would rather recommend the minimal kill rock island county shelter than these people because they are such phonies. They don't give a damn about the animals especially Mary and Janelle who are utter twits. The latter is more concerned about whether snakes starve than the small animals they eat and harassing me about adopting when they refused to take a rabbit in. I would not have to take a rabbit from its owners in their parking lot if these so called animal lovers at these so called animal shelters had done their jobs. And Mary is only concerned with sounding good. She got unhappy at this woman for recommending another no kill shelter in davenport called kings harvest to this guy who brought in some cats when she told them that they had no more room!
