Mission Statement

Poodle Rescue of New England's mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home abandoned, neglected, stray and owner-surrendered poodles.

We are committed to providing the dogs in our program with healthy, safe and loving environments while in foster care and in their forever homes.

We actively promote and educate the public in:

  • The benefits of spaying and neutering companion animals
  • Proper medical and dental care and nutrition
  • The benefits of positive training techniques
  • The principles of humane treatment and respect for all animals.

Our goal is to place the right poodle into the right home.

Description

Poodle Rescue of New England is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue and placement of homeless poodles and poodle mixes within the six New England states. Millions of companion animals-many purebred-are euthanized each year, and at least half are adoptable. Many of our dogs are former impulse purchases by owners who didn't consider the ten to fifteen year commitment of owning a poodle. Some were abandoned or mistreated. Poodles are referred to us through our hotline and from area dog officers, veterinarians, shelters, other rescue groups and our network of volunteers. Each dog is evaluated for behavior and temperament and receives a comprehensive medical exam and all necessary treatment. We do not have a shelter. Our dogs are cared for by our dedicated foster care volunteers in their homes throughout New England. Our poodles are carefully matched to the new family's home environment and lifestyle. Our goal is to place the right poodle in the right home.
