Mission Statement

Housed within one of the nation's leading centers for biomedical research, patient care and graduate education, the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center brings together hundreds of researchers and clinicians dedicated to four fundamental pursuits:

  • Basic science research into the causes and events of cancer's progression;
  • Clinical research to translate new knowledge into viable treatments;
  • Sensitive, state-of-the-art patient care; and
  • Cancer prevention, epidemiology and control.
Basic scientists and clinical healthcare providers at the Cancer Center work together to translate promising ideas into new and better treatments for cancer patients everywhere.

Description

The Ida & Joseph Friend Cancer Resource Center promotes wellness and the healing process by providing patients and their families with supportive care services and with information related to cancer. We offer a range of programs designed to bring patients together, foster community, educate patients about their diagnosis and give patients effective tools to navigate the disease process. All of our programs offered at the Center are free to anyone living with cancer, regardless of where they receive their care.
