Mission Statement

The mission of Old Salem,Inc. is to research, preserve and interpret the historic town of Salem, North Carolina, and decorative arts of the South for the continued enjoyment and enrichment of present and future generations.

Description

Old Salem is a living history museum which interprets a 1766 backcountry Moravian congregation town and trading center. Old Salem,Inc. is a nonprofit educational corporation which oversees the living history town, a decorative arts museum (MESDA), a children's museum, and a changing exhibits gallery. The Gallery at Old Salem presents original and traveling exhibits. "The Gunsmiths of Salem and the Vogler Family of Artisans" is an original exhibition which will be on display from November 17,2001 through September 22, 2002.
