Mission Statement

MARTA's Police force was established in 1977 as part of the transit agency's mission to operate a safe system. Our organization has the same training, certification, rights and powers as any Georgia law enforcement officer while on the property under the control of MARTA or in the actual course and scope of the officer's employment. MARTA Police officers constantly patrol the system, both in regular and in random beats. With this type of coverage, a MARTA Police Officer is not far away from any of our patron's needs.

Description

Yearly the MARTA Authority conduct Table Top Exercises and Full Scale Exercises to ensure that our police staff and administrative force is well trained in emergency management plans and procedures. Furthermore, our emergency planning programs are designed to evaluate the viability of the Authority's emergency response plans and how we coordinate with community and local government agencies. Our key objective is to establish clear expectations in order to promote a cohesive and well coordinated response to man-made chemical and environmental disasters
