Mission Statement

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for people eight years of age and older with mental retardation. While giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friends with their families, other Special Olympians and the community.

Description

Area 23 - Wayne County is one of 39 areas in Michigan. We have over 1,300 athletes that are involved in a year round sports program. Our program provides opportunities to participate in 20 different sports at the Area and State level.
