Description

The Friends of the Library for Hood County, Texas, is a non-profit organization furthering the vision, mission, and goals of the Hood County Public Library in Granbury. Granbury is located in North Texas, just Southwest of Fort Worth.

The Friends of the Library engage in a number of activities to stimulate public support for the Hood County Public Library. These activities include sponsorship of displays, speakers, book reviews, childrens' programs, film programs, book drives, book fairs, etc. We also make available small scholarships for local residents pursuing professional education in librarianship.

As appropriate, the organization can act as a fiscal agent to receive gifts, donations, grants, and other moneys for enhancing the Library.

One of our primary goals is to develop a better public understanding of libraries and the vital role that the Hood County Public Library plays in today's living. Toward this end, we encourage an appreciation of reading for personal enjoyment and for research and information purposes among people young and old.
