Mission Statement

Found is a 501(c)3 non-profit rescue and re-homing center focused on individualized medical and behavioral rehabilitation for homeless dogs and cats that would otherwise be euthanized.

Description

In 2009, Chicago alone destroyed over 10,000 dogs and cats who were healthy, or had a treatable behavioral or medical condition because no one was willing to give them the extra rehabilitation and care they needed. As a no-kill center, Found is diligently working to change that through our mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home.

Through this vital work, Found:

-saves lives

-enhances the human-animal bond

-ensures successful and long-term re-homing

-gives back to the community through humane education programs

Found has a wonderful volunteer program that allows volunteers to learn hands-on training techniques that many other shelters don't teach you. The volunteer orientation is very helpful. The dogs are a joy to work with and Found matches up volunteers to the dog they feel most comfortable working with. I truly feel like I make a difference in the dogs lives because I have a hand in helping them with training and socialization.
