Mission Statement

The mission of Mane Stride is to improve the quality of life and function of people with disabilities with the use of the horse as a therapeutic tool. Using the multidimensional motion and dynamic surface of the horse in a controlled environment, our specially trained staff of occupational and physical therapists can improve function and mobility for those who present with movement dysfunction. Our belief is by offering an alternative method to traditional physical and occupational therapy we can provide a way for our clients to reach their highest potential functionally, physically and psychologically and meet each individual's needs and goals.

Description

MANE STRIDE, An Equine Assisted Therapeutic and Riding Program was established in 2009 to provide therapeutic riding lessons and equine assisted therapy to children with mentally and physically disabling conditions.

Volunteers at MANE STRIDE come in all ages, 14 years and older, and a variety of experience levels. Many volunteers have no horse experience, while others may have years of experience. We strive for a TEAM approach to volunteering. Volunteers must be able to work independently without close supervision, enjoy working with horses, walk a minimum of 2 miles if side-walking and tolerate a dusty environment.
