Mission Statement

VOLUNTEER Hampton Roads is the nonprofit resource center for southeastern Virginia. Established in 1957, our mission is to increase the capacity of Hampton Road's nonprofit sector to address serious community issues by:

  • Providing high quality leadership development and professional training programs for nonprofit boards and staff;
  • Developing business resources and helping companies increase the impact and sustainability of their volunteer activity and community investments;
  • Mobilizing citizens of all ages by providing access to quality volunteer opportunities, and
  • Advocating for civic engagement and building a spirit of collaboration and partnership among organizations working to improve our community.

Description

V OLUNTEER Hampton Roads is a convener and a catalyst to action. We bring together nonprofits, businesses, faith communities, government agencies, civic groups, schools and volunteers to identify and meet our region's critical needs. We also provide professional training to nonprofit staff and board members to strengthen their ability to deliver critical services and meet their missions.
