Mission Statement
The mission of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at the University of Massachusetts, Boston, is to provide a learning experience that will enrich the intellectual, social, and cultural lives of people over the age of 50 who share a love of lifelong learning.
Description
The Osher Institute for Lifelong Learning (OLLI) at the University of Massachusetts in Boston offers classes, presentations, field trips, social events, and opportunities for foreign travel to those age 50 and over.
No prior college experience is required. There are no tests, no term papers, and no grades. Rather than degrees, students in the OLLI get the satisfaction of learning with their peers, being exposed to new subjects and exploring new or favorite areas of interest.
Essential for participation is the interest to be in a university environment, a desire to particpate actively in seminars, and an open mind about sharing ideas and experiences. Over 100 courses are offered each year as well as over 40 lecture presentations.
