The Child Advocacy Center of Lapeer County

Mission Statement

The mission of the Child Advocacy Center of Lapeer County is to reduce the trauma to children during the investigation and intervention of alleged sexual or serve physical abuse by providing Forensic Interviews in a safe and child-friendly environment. The Center staff members serve as facilators, assisting the agencies that are mandated to investigate or intervene in child abuse as well as serving as advocates for both the child and their family throughout the entire process.

One major source of trauma to children and one major challenge in "the system: is the number of times a child is questioned and the length of time taken by all the different investigations. The guiding principle for the CAC and its partners is,

"One child, One Place, One Time"

The Center's mission is to also provide Prevention Programs and Services to the community as well to provide ongoing support to the local schools and other partners requesting these services.
