Mission Statement

To provide artists in the Lafayette County region of Mississippi with the ability and opportunity to create arts of the highest quality while offering residents that opportunity to experience, participate, and have access to the arts.

Description

The Arts Council established in 1975 is the official arts agency for the City of Oxford, and Lafayette County, Mississippi.

The Arts Council works with local artists from theater groups, writers, musicians, and visual artists to create a diverse range of opportunities for these artist to pursue their crafts.

The arts council works to engage the community offering them the ability to see how a piece of art is created, participate in the creation, or enjoy the final creation.

In 2009 the arts council offered over 315 days of arts programming ranging from free exhibits, concerts, plays, and workshops to touring productions and independent films.
