Description

Africamix is a 501c(3) not-for profit organization located in Sacramento, California. It is an all-volunteer organization composed of dedicated individuals representing an array of cultural, racial and ethnic populations. Africamix's program, Collective Volunteer Pledge For Needy Children, as known as Africamix Festival, uses the medium of multicultural arts and music festivals to promote local and national awareness about child abuse and neglect, and conduct public education about prevention and intervention efforts being conducted locally, nationally and internationally to combat child abuse, including child sexual abuse, child labor, child soldiers, child pornography, child slave trafficking, child prostitution, and children with HIV/AIDS, especially in African countries. Every segment of society must be involved, including artists and musicians. Africamix's primary mission is to introduce and incorporate volunteer arts and music celebrations into community-based child abuse intervention and prevention activities. The goal of Africamix is to combat child abuse and neglect in all its forms through promoting volunteer multicultural events and supporting the efforts of the numerous nonprofit and nongovernmental organizations dedicated to aggressive prevention of child abuse and neglect. The objectives of Africamix are: 1) To promote multicultural events that benefit abused, neglected, and abandoned children while fostering, strengthening, and bringing people together to celebrate their incredible diversity. 2) To sponsor volunteer multicultural events which provide forums for guest speakers to promote public awareness of the ongoing impact of child abuse and neglect in our society. 3) To promote and strengthen humanitarian volunteerism in artists as an effective and appropriate way of fighting child abuse and neglect. 4) To promote volunteer live performance events that benefit nonprofit and nongovernmental organizations that are active in providing residential services and therapeutic foster care for abused and neglected children. 5) To identify and implement effective preventive strategies to assist in the success of spreading awareness of child abuse and neglect through promotions of multicultural events. 6) To prevent cruelty to children worldwide through organizing volunteer live performances that promote and strengthen the importance of seeing the world from the perspective of the abused, neglected, and abandoned children. 7) To establish and foster the highest standards of integrity, competence, honor, and character among those engaged in volunteer preventive activities of child abuse and neglect. 8) To provide opportunity to express gratitude to the many nonprofit groups who have dedicated their energies and efforts to helping needy children. 9) To cooperate with volunteer artists of all art forms and performing groups (such as visual arts, puppetry, music, dance, theater, and media) and other volunteers organizations and institutions interested and dedicated in fighting child abuse and neglect in all its forms. 10) To be a voice for innocent, needy children by fostering cooperation and understanding among organizations and doing all things that are appropriate in the furtherance of the mission and purpose of Africamix. 11) To change the odds for vulnerable children by drawing attention to the importance of collective volunteerism in providing hope and support, through prevention and protection in our communities, to children threatened with abuse and neglect. 12) To utilize the artistic social gatherings to advocate for the improvement and expansion of quality services related to the prevention of child abuse and neglect and its impact on the community. 13) To work with other organizations, volunteer artists, and individuals as dedicated volunteers in achieving mutually determined objectives, implementing, and carrying out programs.
