Mission Statement

The YWCA Bergen County is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.

We are the area’s largest provider of child care services, a recognized leader in health and fitness programs, and operator of the county’s only Rape Crisis Center. Celebrating nearly a century of commitment to our community, today we improve the lives of thousands of women, girls, and their families.

Empowering women and girls is at the YWCA of Bergen County’s core. We provide women and families with health and fitness programs, support and opportunities for self-expression. Give girls tools to develop healthy body images and build self esteem. Offer kids a place to learn, grow and have memorable summer camp experiences. And provide recreation and support for adults and children with special needs. We invite you to explore how the "W" can make a difference in your life and the lives of your family.

Our Rape Crisis Center provides 24-hour crisis intervention services including information and referral, emotional support, options, advocacy, and accompaniment services to local hospitals, police stations, and court proceedings. Our Rape Crisis Center also provides education and trainings to the community, is engaged in preventing sexual violence through bystander intervention, and provides trainings twice per year for volunteers to become advocates.
