Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
Provide a HOME, emotional support, and life-skills to girls who have "aged out" of foster care, and women facing homelessness.
Bridge of FaithH.O.M.E. (Home Opportunity Meets Emancipation) is "after-care" for foster youth. We operate three homes in Whittier, where we make this possible.
We offer stability. We do this by providing safety and a sense of permanency. We don't just give our girls shelter, we give them a place to call home. Each resident gets a furnished room to call her own--a chance to learn ownership and responsibility. We also give professional therapy referrals, and drug and alcohol referrals as needed.
We become a family. We encourage residents to eat meals together and hold social outings every year to encourage interaction between them. We introduce our girls to the idea of family time, which reinforces stability in their lives. Our girls start building trust and learn how to become part of a family unit.
Bridge of Faith is different from other organizations: we focus on the emotional healing of the person. We make sure that each resident finds her Value, realizes her Importance, and eventually learns her Purpose. Through the VIP Program, we build women of worth.
We also operate a retail store, Up*Scale Collectibles. The store raises community awareness, serves as a drop-in counseling center, and as a job-training place for the Bridge of Faith residents. In addition, the store is a fundraising arm for the organizations. All proceeds benefit Bridge of Faith H.O.M.E.
