Mission Statement

Oak Park School is a district center school that provides educational and therapeutic services to over 300 students with disabilities. We utilize general education curriculum as well as curriculum designed specifically for students with special needs. All curriculum is rigorous and relevant, and is differentiated to meet the needs of each individual student. Oak Park has six instructional teams, with each team supporting students according to exceptionality, strengths, and medical and behavioral needs. Our staff consists of highly educated and trained teachers, specialists and paraprofessionals who continually set high expectations for students so that each may strive to reach their maximum potential

Description

Each student at Oak Park participates in vocational programming that prepares them for employment opportunities after transitioning from post-graduate programming. Our We Work Lab is designed for students to learn pre-vocational skills that lead to employment.
Oak Park’s Horticulture and Practical Arts programs offer hands-on work experiences on campus that provide restoration and beautification to the school and its grounds. Student-created mosaic pieces are extremely popular and are sold throughout the community. Our Pelican Cottage is a portable classroom that has been beautifully transformed into an apartment where students can go to learn independent living skills

This program teaches young ladies that there are still options for them and they are not alone. Just because they are young moms doesnt necessarily mean they cant make a name for themselves.
