Mission Statement

Paws & Claws Humane Society is a not-for-profit, volunteer led organization whose mission is to promote and provide humane protection and shelter for abandoned or lost companion animals; to seek appropriate adoptive homes for the animals under our protective care; to provide public education regarding the problem of animal overpopulation; to promote the principles of responsible companion animal care; and to advocate the spaying and neutering of all companion animals. Paws & Claws does not euthanize except in the case of severe, fatal illness or injury, debilitating pain or severe behavioral problem in which the animal is a danger to itself, other animals or humans.

Description

Paws & Claws Humane Society has cared for over 10,000 abandoned cats and dogs since its inception in 1975. PCHS relies entirely on the generosity of its members, donors and volunteers for financial support. The organization receives no city or other government funding even though its services extend throughout southern Minnesota. All animals taken in receive thorough veterinary care and are spayed or neutered prior to adoption unless binding contracts are signed to accomplish this after adoption. In addition to our adoption and referral services, Paws & Claws offers a low cost spay neuter subsidy for qualified individuals, educational programs for people of all ages, and various membership services such as a bi-monthly newsletter and a wide variety of volunteer opportunities.
