Mission Statement

Our mission is to educate, advocate, empower, and transform urban communities through guidance and leadership, to promote community awareness and responsibilities and to encourage self-discipline and self-awareness.

Description

The Blake Foundation for Education maintains an innovative and nontraditional partnership consisting of several local community-based organizations.

With high school graduation preparation and assistance, GED preparation, college entry preparation and planning we are preparing the youth today for tomorrow. We provide the tools and support that is needed to achieve higher education goals. By offering free tutoring and mentoring programs, life skills training, mental health counseling and employment opportunities - we are making a significant difference within the underserved communities.

The Blake Foundation for Education is determined to increase the number of students that graduate from high school throughout the Sacramento, El Dorado, Yolo and San Joaquin counties. Successfully, we have helped 1438 students graduate from high school or receive their GED. Among those 1438 students, 694 attended a two-year college and 319 attended a technical-school, and 263 attended a four-year college or university! With great enthusiasm and motivation, our current success rate is 88%! We will continue to thrive and aim for success!

The Blake Foundation for Education offers youth different programs of success: The Turning Heads Projects, Breaking the Cycle, Teen Spirit, and the Next Level. Each program offers different options to attain levels of success. The factors interfering with student engagement and success in a formal education environment are complex and complex problems require a comprehensive solution.

Developing and institutionalizing a component to address barriers to learning and teaching requires a well-designed and effective set of operational mechanisms. We are here to offer Sacramento and its surrounding communities the skills and equipment to a better life - through education!
