Mission Statement

The mission of the Boys & Girls Club of Salem, Marion and Polk Counties is to inspire and enable all youth grades 1-12, especially youth from disadvantaged circumstances, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens through the development of a positive self-image and self-reliance.

Description

Founded in 1967, through the cooperative efforts of several community groups including the Salem Optimists Club and the American Legion, the Boys & Girls Club of Salem, Marion and Polk Counties currently operates four highly successful neighborhood youth centers, two gang prevention outreach sites and community-wide athletic programs.

For 40 years the Boys and Girls Club has given children opportunities for success in our community, focusing on five core areas: Health & Life Skills, Education & Career Development, Character & Leadership Development, Sports, Fitness & Recreation and the Arts.
