Mission Statement

KUSC's History & Mission Statement: "To make classical music a more important part of more people's lives." The mission of KUSC reflects the broader mission of the University of Southern California: to foster the development of human beings and society as a whole through the cultivation and enrichment of the human mind and spirit. KUSC's contribution to this ideal is to provide each resident of Southern California with access to classical music, information about music, local arts and cultural events, and special programs through the medium of radio.

Description

From its original broacast limit of 10 miles in 1947, KUSC now serves the seven-county metropolitan area with four network stations in Los Angeles, Thousand Oaks, Santa Barbara, and Palm Springs. Serving more than 500,000 listeners each week, it is the largest public radio service in Southern California and the fourth largest in the nation. An enthusiastic membership of 30,000 listeners across Southern California financially supports the station's activities. Listener's enjoy an engaging and innovative mix of recorded orchestral, chamber, vocal, operatic, choral, and cinematic music, in both studio and live performance, as well as news and information. KUSC is a primary source of current local arts and cultural event information.
