The mission of the Maricopa County Adult Probation Department Victim Services Unit (VSU) is to provide assistance to victims of crime, the community, and the court family, in a respectful, professional, and timely manner. We accomplish our mission through: victim and restitution advocacy; training; referrals to other agencies; information about probation and the criminal justice system, assist with outreach material, and use collaboration with other agencies.
In the United States the likehood of you or someone you know becoming a victim of crime is tremendous. Often victims do not understand or know how to implement their rights or other information. Without knowledge or guidance, a victim has the potential of being revictimized through the criminal justice system. The Victim Services Unit of Maricopa County Adult Probation Department is committed to providing quality services to victims, the community and the court in a timely and professional manner while educating victims' of their rights. We strive to provide fairness and respect while ensuring Victims' Consitutional Rights are upheld. Gathering case information and resources are critical functions of the Victim Services Unit's duties. We feel that educating and providing case information empowers victims and the community and may reduce the possibility of revictimization or becoming a victim.
