Mission Statement
Our purpose is to help the child become all he or she can be by helping to build self-esteem, self-confidence, interpersonal communication skills, socal values, aspirations, and scholastic achievement. By helping to provide an in-school mentor to every child in Delaware who needs one.
Description
We are a traditional, holistic, relationship based in-school mentoring program, and the largest in-school mentoring program in Delaware. We provide mentor training (elementary and middle school) to anyone wanting to mentor in a Delaware public school, at no cost, and support in-school mentoring programs and their mentors in over 80 Delaware public elementary and middle schools. Mentors work one-to-one with a child selected by the school for about 45 minutes once each week during the regular school day. Depending on the child's interests and needs, mentors may talk about experiences, read books, help wigh school work, work on projects or crafts, of just listen.
